Latest Track Project - Triumph 675 - NOW COMPLETED !!

Postby Maccarocks » Tue Mar 22, 2011 9:44 pm

Hi All,

Been back in the shed over the past 5 weeks rebuilding yet another project bike. I always wanted a Triumph 675, love the look of them and at last I got my hands on one. These bikes would be the easiest bikes to work on ever..!! I have rebuilt plenty of ZX10's, which are all good to work on, the ZX6 I did was still pretty good, the CBR was a great bike, but a pain in the butt to work on, but the Daytona 675 has been by far the easiest and best to set up. They are a real race bike..

Anyway, I have done all the track mods on this one, and even more.. I wont list them at this stage (unless anyone really wants to know) but you can probably see by the pics that this one has gone together perfectly.. All completed apart from the final paint work.. I am test riding it with the stock suspension at PI on the 3rd and 4th of April and see how it feels.. This one has been a pleasure to re-build... If it rides as well as it looks I will do the suspension as well. Of course I still have the ZX10.. that one will always be in the shed, I love that bike...!! :D

Russ,

I will be bringing the 675 up to EC this year.. for our yearly trip..

I had planned for a May trip.. or a July trip..

The sooner the better for me...

And Mad dog, it's good to hear that the ... Hhmm Honda is still going well.. I loved that bike, would have liked to have spent more time on it.. still it got a trip to the 'creek' and a few good laps of the 'island'...

The 675 might be a keeper..?? but dont quote me on that..

It all looks pretty good, but I don't like the colour scheme. :)

It's going to be all 'Neon Blue', same as the tank...

I will update the pics once the paintwork and stickers have been done..

Yes I reckon it will also look very nice in the blue, not too crazy with the stickers, just the standard 'Daytona' on the belly pan, the 'Triple 675' on the shoulder and the '675' on the tail.. all in silver with a black surround, same as the tank sticker..

It is an 08 model... Funny thing about that, is all of my bikes are 08's at the moment, the 2 x ZX10's and the 675..?? Must have been a good year.. :D

I love the sound of the triple.. really different and the Jardine makes it sing..

It has come up really good, like all of my rebuilds, so I cant wait to ride it at the island onthe 4th and 5th.. I will be getting the rear shock re-sprung either before then or on the day by Stewy Winton, as the rear is just too hard.. the front is OK as far as spring weight goes, but I will have to put it on the track first to give the final verdict. I will probably end up swapping the stock springs over for Ohlins .95's, same as the ZX10..?? all depends on how it feels as it is a much lighter bike, I might not need the extra in the front springs. Still I will be draining the stock fork oil and flushing and installing 5 wt.

Anyway, I stopped off at my local Kawasaki dealer today (Race Replica) and I have a taste for the new ZX10 in Black.. so I might have my 08 ZX10 for sale soon.. even possibly the 675 once I have set it up and had a play for a while.. All of my bikes are immaculate... so if you are interested, let me know.. ;)

I don't post much in yr rebuild threads, but I do read them and you always present a bike well. That triple will be a different experience on the track. I can't wait to hear your ride impressions once you have it sorted.
