New Track Project - GSXR-750 Almost Totally Finished !!

Postby Maccarocks » Fri Nov 25, 2011 10:10 pm

Hi all,

Well I have been back in the shed again rebuilding yet another track bike. This one is an 09 GSXR 750. I always liked this model, small and neat, same size as a 600 but on steroids..!! with an extra 10kw across the whole rev range, so I am really keen to test it out at the track.

Of course it has been built up the same way I have done all of my bikes with no expense spared. Performance / track additions include - BMC Hi Flow Air Filter, Throttle insert, -1 Tooth front sprocket, 'GB Racing' engine covers, Full 'Yoshi' exhaust, Modified 'crash Knob' crash protection, shorty levers, Evotech muffler hanger, I have also given it a full service as well. Sounds fantastic and runs really well with only 4300 k's on the clock.

I am currently waiting on the 'Armour Bodies' ducktail, braided lines, rearsets, radiator guard and it will be basically ready to test ride. Hoping for a test ride at the island mid December, fingers crossed... then getting the paint done over the Christmas break. This one will be painted up in the original GSXR colours, blue and white with all the pro decals as well. This project is coming together perfectly.. :D

More pics to come.. stand by for updates.. ;)

Hey Wattie... I will never get rid of the ZX10.. that bike is a beast..!! :D

And as far as it being too fast for me.. well it is very fast, but I am trying to tame that power... The 2 days you guys came to the island I ended up doing a PB of 1.47.1 with my 'optimal' of 1.46.4.. and a GPS top speed of 280kph flat.. (Thanks to chasing Russ for a bit) But the ZX10 will never be leaving the shed...!!

All my other track bikes I have built I like to test ride them, have a play and then see if I want to keep them... I like experiencing the feel of different bikes. This GSXR 750 is not an ex PI coach bike, just another good catch from the auctions.. It is a very tidy bike that had very minimal damage.. so I know it is going to work well...

Wait till you see the finished product...!!

You also forgot to add the 675..!!

I was fast on that straight away.. definitely faster than the CBR 600 I rebuilt... If I had have kept the 675 a bit longer I reckon I would have done really well on it. I am really keen to try out the 750 as it feels really light.. I will see how it feels before I start doing any suspension work.. I will just set up the sags and tune the stock suspension to the best I can.. but I have a good feeling with this one..

Still nothing will compare to the grunt of the ZX10...

Yes....the amount of effort and detail you put into your bikes shits me.
About all I can do with the 9 is rub it with a soft cloth and whisper sweet nothings into its intakes occasionally.
Have fitted a +4 advancer to it and it pulls even harder over 7k rpm but thats about it.
Heading to heathcote next weekend to see what it and I can do over the quarter.

It's perfect and I love it.....but thats to be expected as it was built by a perfectionist :D
It would seem your other half has become very accepting of your hobby as they keep coming thick and fast.....either that or the kids are paying their way or left the nest.?

Ok so really kissing arse now but I have never met anyone with more enthusiasm, drive and attention to detail than yourself. Galaxy got a run in the garage sound system while weeding the backyard this morning.
Keep up the updates
Adrian

Hi Adrian.. well thanks for all your nice comments mate..!!

I am glad you are still loving the '9' as much as I did before it was sold... As you know, and any person who has purchased any of my bikes, I build them all with passion, I spare no expense, and I ALWAYS track test them, sometimes for many months just to prove that they run well, they are fast and if I am going to risk my life on them, I am saying that they are all good..!! :D

As far as my attention to detail goes.. it is just the way I am.. every single bike has been the same.. but next time I build one for you I will leave some shitty things hanging off so you have something to do to it..!!! Kids have left the nest.. (almost) just got to get rid of 1 who is part time at home at the moment.. and the missus doesn't care what I do in the shed.. She rarely comes out to the shed actually except to ask me what different bike I have out there...

Keep playing 'Galaxy'.. as soon as I get some more time I will get into finishing the next album "Project No.5" Funny enough that would be my 5th album He He... I have all the backing tracks done, just need 6 months of locking myself in the studio to get it finished, which I just cant seem to do lately..? just too busy building up and riding bikes.. Standby for more picture updates on the GIXXER over the next 2 weeks..

No Adrian,

No new shed.. it turned out to be too much stuffing around.. so the plan now is to clear the back yard, I have a small area in the other back corner where a garden bed and a couple of trees where.. they are getting cleared and I will be putting another 3 x 3 shed there which will be used just for the pushbikes and all the garden shit that we just have to have...

That will give me plenty of room then.. maybe I could even fit another project bike there..?? :D My plan was to have 2 bikes on the go at the same time.. I just dont have the room here at the moment..

And about the music.. sorry the website name is gone now.. but this link will take you to my index page and you can go from there... http://home.iprimus.com.au/maccarocks/home.htm I really should update it... ;)

Re: New Track Project - GSXR-750 Finished (except for paint)

Postby Maccarocks » Sun Dec 18, 2011 10:05 am

Hey all...

Well the parts have all arrived and this new project is now totally finished... ready for it's debut test run at the island Monday and Tuesday (19th / 20th December)...

This has turned out to be another excellent build up... in fact each bike I do seems to just get better and better...!! ;) This one is no exception.. I have done all the same 'track mods' that I do to all my own bikes, spare no expense, even did a bit more on this one... Cant wait for the test ride....

I will be looking at the paint work after the Xmas break, but until then here is the finished project..
