Stoner with EB?

Sat Jul 04, 2009 11:37 pm

Reports doing the rounds suggest that Stoner has the Epstein-Barr virus. The only way for him to get better is to rest and drink lots.

Not sure how he's going to hold up for this weekends race.

That sucks.
He still done well in qualifying - but you're right, could be just like the recent 2 races if not worse.

Epstein-Barr = Glandular Fever I think. :?

"The Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV)......one of the most common viruses in humans. Most people become infected with EBV, which is often asymptomatic but infection commonly causes infectious mononucleosis (also known as glandular fever)." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Epstein-Barr_virus

"The classical symptoms are a sore throat, fever, fatigue, weight loss, malaise, pharyngeal inflammation and petechiae....." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Infectious_mononucleosis

I had it when I was the same age. I was a total wreck for the first week then went back to work and slowly recovered after that.

Epstein-Barr CAN result in glandular fever, but not necessarily. It's also linked to other nasty conditions including some cancers.

I spent 6 months off school in year 11 with the wretched thing.

Hope he hasn't got it badly (if he's got it) 'cause it'd scupper his season but good.
