"Smog" block off plates???

Sun Apr 29, 2012 10:32 am

Hey all; needing some advice on what these things are and if they'd be recommended for my bike!

I'm currently rebuilding a '94 ZXR750 to use as a track bike and am wondering if I can do away with some of the air/vacuum lines under the air box and have noticed the parts in the title; "Smog" block plates by a company called Driven in the US which look like they block off the vents above the reeds valves from the cam cover and I'm wondering if I fit these will it have a negative effect on my bikes performance :? ?

I've attached a photo to show what I mean :)

ALso; do I need to connect the pipe off the top of the carbs to anything or can it simply be blocked :? ?

Thanks

Block off plates are fine, they make so
Performance difference what so ever.

You need to be carefull with any if the vacuum hoses on carbs. Some are a necessity. The one coming from the smog
Plates can just be blocked off.

So I should be fine to remove the reed valve plates and connect the two hoses together?

Strong smell of petrol in those hoses after running the bike for a bit; is my cylinder head be leaking?
