I was done with my zx12r in 2002 while running it in at Kinglake Victoria.
The Police were waving over all sportbikes into a parking bay where the EPA were set up testing noise levels. I was not about to rev a new motor to the rquired revs so after a heated disscusion I was tested at 3000rpm and came in at 100.3 db. All I had to do was comply with a notice within 14days and after putting my original muffler back on for testing and $25 for the test I was back in the clear. This blitz was the result of boyracers in their T-shirts being d@#kheads in the area. But the part that really pissed me off was that they were waving on every Harley/lookalike cruiser. Talk about discrimination. Been riding the spurs and ocean roads since and have not had any attention as a result of loud pipes.

That's the first time I have ever heard anyone here in Victoria being caught for noise on their bike. Sure you weren't actually pulled over for 'your' noise, but more caught up in a blitz on noise. But still never heard of anyone being booked or pulled over etc.
Having said that I am aware that it is possible to be caught for excessive noise and I do have an aftermarket pipe on my bike which is louder than stock

Not having the 636 very long I must admit that the good thing with the Micron I have noticed is it doesnt really start to kick up a stink til its over the 5000rpm mark.

So in future if passing a Police type person I think I should be right if I keep it under 5000 because they are relatively quiet!! hopefully

Don't know if anyone else with a micron slip on can attest or agree's with this?

I was done by the EPA 3 times on my two fiddy with the Megacycle can, same time of day, same road. etc

If i got caught one more time, I would have had to have gone into EPA headquarters for a test, rather than where I was going

I got pulled over by Cops on Elizabeth St, right outside Peter Stevens..

I was going through the round-a-bout at the top of Elizabeth street, and they coppers heard me from down near the Childrens Hospital and came after me... took them a while to catch up.. ROFL

Never did get a notice or fine or anything... They were pretty cool, asked me some questions, etc and yeah obviously never bothered to do the
paperwork... :) And boy was the ZX2R loud...
