Doing the valve shims and other stuff - zx6rr 03

Postby MrFaulty » Fri Nov 08, 2013 2:43 pm

Hi, am about to do the valve shims again on my bike (73000kms). Was going to do it over the xmas break when I have a bit of time, but the question is:

The bike is running fine, plenty of power, a little tappety but pretty good; I was thinking, while I have her pulled apart is it worth redoign the valves, valve springs etc? obviously it wont hurt but how do you tell if these things need doing or are at least close to needing doing?

Thanks
Ben

Hey Ben when you say Tappety, you are not mistaking for cam chain noise? I would go in a click on the CCT to see the diference + just do the clearances first ....... with that many k's you shouldn't need to have the head apart.

Thanks, no not cam chain noise, had the same noise just before I did the shims a year and a half ago (I rack up a lot of kms!).

Cheers
