Any ideas on how to clean the pitting on the swingarm?

Just use scotch brite scouring pads or steel wool with soapy water and some elbow grease Andrew, should come up a treat. If you want to get all fancy and make it look really good, you can use some aluminium cleaner like this one, http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/online ... mendations

followed by some Alushine: http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/online ... mendations

many many litres of elbow grease. If the pitting is too deep it will simply be impossible to remove all of it. What you might have to do is take the swingarm out of the bike completely and use some fine wet'n'dry paper on a random orbit sander (also could use a mouse sander).

Then go to a buffing wheel with good cutting compound.

Then go to a polishing wheel with a good polish compund.

That pitting is actual physical damage to the aluminium.........is gonna take some hours to get rid of it.

Thanks. I'll get into it. I've got a week off coming up and there's only so much running I can do.
I'm getting a bit of a man cave going.
