Zx6r 2008 running PCIII USB blowing oil out exhaust

My cousin just picked up a zx6r 2008 we were told it was running rich it is blowing blue and black smoke, blew at idle black when riding and when it back fires its running a power commander 3 usb we are going to try the akrapovic map first to see if that helps if not than i am going to re-ring the old pistons and hone the cylinders and change the valve stem seals

Any advice would be handy can the job be done with the engine in the bike?

Are the cylinders nikasil lined? If so, honing may not be an option other than to remove glazing. New rings for sure.

Can't help when it comes to the mechanical work, but I have the same bike with a PC3 and full exhaust. I used the standard map for that exhaust from the PowerCommander website and it's always been perfect. You should be able to find another map and re-download just to confirm it's not a fuelling issue.
