Fender eliminator zx10r

Tue Nov 11, 2008 11:48 am

tried searching the forums for a similar topic with little avail.

Just wondering who has put a fender eliminator on thier bike and how much of the bike do you need to take apart (specifically 06-07 zx10r) to put it on.
Also how much is a good quality one.

Thanks

Check on ebay, there'll be heaps of them.

Not sure about the 06 but on the 05 it's dead easy.

I have an 06... Its v easy. Jusr remove the rear seat, the plug for the number plate light and 4 bolts. I got mine second hand but there are heaps of brands to choose from.

I have one on my 05 ZX10R and just be careful with the imported ones from the states... mine has integrated turn signals and the build quality is fscking TERRIBLE. 300+ bucks for a thin piece of plastic. License plate mount snapped off so it's currently held in with a heap of epoxy and ply. I'll grab a pic so you know which ones to avoid.

The whole tail is soon being replaced hence the agricultural temporary fix.

In the last pic you can see why the license mount snapped out... in their infinite wisdom when design the undertail they jammed 3 self-tapping screws within 20mm of one another through 2mm plastic... it was only a matter of time before it snapped off.

Also the indicators are CRAP. if you can stick with the OEM indicators... every person I have ridden with has always said that my indicators are completely pointless.

Aside from the cracks, that undertail looks awesome! 8)

I had an engineer knock my fender eliminator up... Materials were from Bunnings, beer from Heinekin :D

dam, how did you score that plate ? I want a plate like that too!

Rated R have a nice universal fender elim for about $49 i think, i like it because it doesnt have that crazy writing cut into it like R1 or watever. My mate had a fender with R1 stencilled in and the vibration of the bike split the fender where it had R1 written cause it creates a weak point!

hehehe photoshop is my friend. Yeah, I have to agree that I'm completely over the cutouts and all that jive. What ever happened to nice sleek lines... My 10 is almost completely badged too, only thing left is the Kawasaki on the tank and I reckon it looks sooo much better for it.

Easiest fender eliminator is to just butcher the existing tail piece, sure it's not flush but it's usually a sizeable improvement over the stock item. I took to the tail of my CBR 929 with my trusty dremel and the difference was definitely worth the effort.
