Black guage face on Z1000

Postby bassmaniac69 » Tue Feb 27, 2007 8:55 pm

I just recieved my ZX10 shock today, and along with it I got a replacement guage face for the Z1000.

10 minute fit, including removing the cluster and pulling it apart. It looks pretty good to me, although if I end up hating it I can just pull it off as the red is still underneath.

It will look pretty trick when I also change the leds in the guage from orange to blue!

Well, have not ridden it at night but with the garage lights off it looks a bit harder - you can still read the numbers though and bear in mind that's pitch black, so I assume night riding on the street should be ok with some ambient lights!

Looks cool but would love to hear wether on not it's functional. Then again as long as it looks good!

Well, had my first night ride and it's ok to ride with. A little bit dark compared to the stock red one, but only by about 15/20% or so at the most. And this only effects the rev counter, not the speed which is ok as I usually ride by feel in anycase!

So, all in all it's a pretty cool mod. If any Z1000 guys are interested I can pass on the number details of the guy I got them from in the US!
