I had them fitted at a dealer, but I believe they are attached to the head and also to each other with a support bar running behind the radiator, I haven't dropped it to test them out, so can't help with that....... touch wood.......
You are probably weighing up if they are a viable expense, which is what I did before getting them. I heard reports that having them in an off cracks the head and causes more damage that what they save, etc etc. This may or maynot be right. This is also why I went for the extra expense of the genuine "O" knobs and not the cheaper ebay ones, I believe you get what you pay for.... I think from memory I paid around $400 fitted........ I decided to get them to save damage in a low speed, or an off the stand fall. The type you would most likely pay for yourself and not go through insurance... I figured it wouldn't matter with or without them in a high speed off, cause it would probably be a write off anyway....... Hope this helps.......
And if you do get them, don't forget to tell your insurer to add them on the policy
