Hong Kong fairing kit import

Postby Reedy » Sat Jun 12, 2010 7:23 pm

Has anyone had any experience importing these:

Any comments on quality or if they fit properly. Ive had a look at simonssuperbikes.com.au but they're about another 300 on top

Do you want race glass or road gear?

I've been looking at options like this. Some will make fairings in race trim (no light holes) for extra and one Au shows this as an option too although there is no descriptions on his site... http://www.onlinetorque.com.au/ and I have asked for more pics but no response.

If you buy from overseas do you have to pay import duties and GST?

dunno about the former but the latter is you only pay AU customs duties and GST for articles over $1k. Unless you get them to declare the article is under that amount. ;)

I sourced a set of fairing from Yes2Yeah (via ebay) for my 08 zx10r.
I landed them for under $700..
You get what you pay for though.. from a distance they look fine, but panel fit in some places isn't the best and you need to source bolt/fastners to suit it (as it doesn't use the original fairing bolts in some places..
They took a full day to fit..
But now they're on, I'm happy with the result (plus, I won't be as concerned when I next get a stone chip..)

AH imports...Well...Mine have with stood 2 low sides and can carry at least 1 kilo of gravel from turn 2 in the belly of the side fairings. Maybe I got a super set. or its the $20 super chinese delrin crash knobs on it. Or it could be the fibreglass mold of the old headlight held on with a tube of liquid nails (clear so you can't tell :P) to the nose fairing that holds it all together.

Surprisingly looks half decent...sorta.

haha :)
