1 or 2 piece track leathers

Postby Mstevo » Tue Nov 24, 2009 9:37 pm

This might be an old discussion topic
I'm after the pros and cons of one piece leathers for track days/racing
I'm finding my 2 piece street leathers are just way to hot for me on track days, so I'm buying perforated next time just need to know whether to go with 1 or back to the 2 piece

I find the peiece way more comfortable when riding (not so much when stamding around  )

I like the idea that a 1 peiece wont come apart at the zipper like 2 peices will and have done.

2 peice is more convienient as you can just take off the jacket.

1 peices look faster :kuda:

I get very hot in my street leathers PI last week was only 24o and I was uncomfortable on the slow down lap and getting into the pits sorting the bike, let alone trying to get out of gear that's sticking to you.... if only I was as fit as wattie and russ I wouldn't have a problem ;-)
New leathers will have as much perforation as I can get, it's easier to stay warm than try and cool down.

Get a set of skinz or skinz rip-offs (Slazenger did decent pants for $30 at BigW). They'll help heaps, no matter which set of leathers you end up getting. I swear by mine and use them almost every time I ride, road or track.

I personally couldn't justify a set of leathers for the track and a second set for the road, so I compromised. If I had a set of track-only leathers, they'd be 1 piece - they're just better. So if you're only going to use them at the track, I'd go 1 piece if I was you.

Because I use mine on the road as well, I chose to get 2 piece. They aren't *that* much worse than 1 piece on the track and they're miles better for road riding (i.e, riding, then sitting down to chat, drink coffee, etc) as you can easily zip off the jacket.

yeah mate we werent all in skins for the athletic look.................. ( well wattie might but thats just to boost up his shit talking!!!!!   )

I have been wearing skins under both my 2 peice and 1 peice for about 2 years now. I wouldnt ride anywhere without them now. I just feel uncomfortable and sticky when they are not underneath the leathers (perforated or not). They also make it much easier to move around on the bike as the leathers will slide over the Skins more freely.

+1 for skins.
I race in a 2 piece, your in them all day and so easy to just take the top off between sessions.

I have skins and used them down at PI they do allow you to move around much better on the bike but still felt very hot on coming into the pits, I had the visor up and the zipper down trying to keep cool
Because I'm not a professional like you guys I'm leaning towards a 2 piece, 2 reasons getting them on and off over a back protector and shoulders and then carrying them around your waste in between sessions.
