Leathers

Postby MrFaulty » Mon Dec 14, 2009 9:02 am

Hi, I have been riding for two years and have recently bought a proper bike (ZX6RR); previuously I wore jeans (I know not smart) and a rivet airbag jacket. I was loaned some leathers yesterday and now want to buy my own as they are shyt loads more comfy on the jewels - also my wifes gf reckons I will look hot in leathers ;)

How much should I be paying for a set of leathers?

Is there any market for a second hand rivet airbag jacket?

Thanks
Ben

That sounds dangerous Ben
Mate get down to an accessories shop & start trying on sets, each manufacturers sizing is different so try em all & the most important bit is get on the bike!
because when you are standing the leathers they will feel totally different. For the road 2 piece is brilliant & from there it really comes down to your budget & getting something to fit.
Where you located?

If you can make a day of it and come down to the big smoke, I would do Bikebiz at Parra (good service & lots of stock)
& MCAS on Parramatta Rd (lots of stock) But of course try local first & then you can call around to see if the price is right.

what I did was set collins leathers as my default then wandered around the shops in Melbourne until i found something that looked better value.
http://www.collinsleathers.com/
if you look on e-bay its around $750 for their race pants and monza jacket so it gives you somewhere to start.

e-bay is good if you know your size. I now have 2 sets of leathers as i couldn't resist a tiger angel 2 piece suit for $220. :D :D

there's a guide to leathers somewhere that tells you what to look for. if i remember where it is I'll post the link
That is why God made fast motorcycles, Bubba.... Hunter S. Thompson.
