ZX6R 09 mods

Hey guys I have an 09 six, track bike only.
Mods that are currently on it are as follows and I was wondering if anyone had any specific mods or know of any little idiosyncrasies that are worth doing to this model to improve lap times?
- bazzaz power commander( custom map to go with it)
- slip on and link pipe
- braided lines
-attack rearsets
-kn filter
- race glass
- standard suspension modified ( don't know exactly as previous owner did it, but it would seem it has modified valves front and rear, standard spring in the rear and heavier springs in the front.
- minus one on the front sprocket up one on the rear
Mainly ridden at PI and broady.
Coming soon is a quick action throttle and Woodcraft clip ons

It seems to me you've got it covered, really... other than that, take the bike to your suspension guy to get the suspension adjusted to you and get the OEM damper revalved(if it hasn't already).

I personally don't like the OEM shift light, I can't seen it very well unless I'm really looking at it... so I'm planning on getting the Ecliptech one in the near future. Also, if you want a bit more power there's the XTRE but I'm yet to see proof it actually works for this model.

I have the Bazzaz as well but the QS model and I absolutely LOVE the quickshifter! Maybe look into getting a stand alone unit.

Alll in all, the 09+ ZX6R is a great track bike straight out of the box IMO. All it needs, like any other road bike, is a little work on the suspension and some better tires and it'll let you lap pretty fast consistently.

Add smog block off plates & X-TRE if not done already; that's something the bike should of come out with from factory.

Why bother with the tre on a 600cc track bike? Doesn't it only make a difference in low revs?

And smog plates only stop backfiring and popping... No really performance mod

Correct, first 4 gears up to 8000 rpm; may not be that beneficial on the track, but it makes a noticeable difference on the street and @ cruise.

Correct again, however from what I have observed on my own bike; throttle response was better and engine brake was less pronounced.

Ive heard of current zx6 racebikes (Blurr on here and 1 other) where the cat has collapsed in the header pipe. I dug mine out and had it mapped afterwards with a PC as they run lean from stock. Not sure what effect it would have with your current setup.

Im 95kg and zeno left my standard spring in the shock amd revalved. Some stiffer springs in the front stopped it shuddering into corners. Sounds like similar has been done but you may want to adjust it to suit you.

Otherwise Im really happy with mine! Now just gotta learn to ride it

The tre was designed to stop the ECU from retarding the timing in the first three gear's buy telling the ECU the bike is in sixth gear all the time except for neutral.Some bikes do get a substancal power gain in the first three gears and other's don't.

Yep, dont know about the 6, but the 10 its the 1st 4 four gears, where the tre tricks the ecu into thinking its in top gear, hence no retard... doesnt make anymore power, just changes where it comes in.
O my ZX10 it makes it come on hard from 4grand, as opposed to before, where it come on hard at around 7/8 grand.
But at broady it can be a pain, where ur going from a closed throttle to open, as in crash corner, where it can come on a aggressive.
But on a 6 its prob fine..

I don't have the tre, but by the sounds of I probably don't need it as its a six and rarely below 9g.

I might look into the smog plates as it does pop a lot, although I did think the rubber pipe between had been blocked off so I would imagine that should achieve the same outcome.
I was told by stewie that the standard spring is a 9.2kg and he found with his rider he required an 11kg for him. I'm about 90kg without gear.

I might talk to the guy that just did bg suspension as he seemed to know what he spoke about I did have it fettled with by stewie at pi and he dialled out the rear tyre getting ripped up but he left the preload on the front only one turn off soft and I hit the bump stops and dropped it at Honda which obviously wasn't great.

If that was all that was done you'd get a FI code from the sensor. You have to jump the sensor (even a stapple will do) to get rid of it. You also need to block a hole on the left side under the airbox.
I went with the block off plates kit, $30-odd dollars and you get all you need. Not the hardest thing to do either (it seriously sounds 10x more complicated than it is), just make sure the airbox/velocity stacks are sitting right before you close/tighten everything.

Good time to check the air filter and even change the spark plugs if you think you might need to do it in the near future.

Ps: If you do go the block off plates way, make sure to leave the little plates with the rubber seals in there otherwise you get another FI light!

Are smog off plates required if you still have original headers with cat? I have slip on and link on my 10 zx6r and do get the popping, but nothing too major I don't think. I read that it does improve engine breaking?

They're not required but it won't give you any performance benefit. Some say it reduces the popping and helps with engine braking though... It's also helpful if you're taking your bike to get mapped at a dyno as the tuner would have to at least block the hoses in order to get an accurate reading.
