Frame Sliders / Crash Knobs

Mon Jul 29, 2013 4:42 pm

Hi There all
ME AGAIN !!!!!
I finally worked out how to put the fairings/cowlings back on and got some frame sliders whilst I was purchasing the replacement parts.
They don't come with instructions and probably don't need to because they look really easy. Only problem is im still a newbie at the mechanics part of bikes and am not sure how to install them.
I received to knobs left and right and a bracket piece with a few different sized bolts. Firstly im not sure where they bolt onto and secondly how to install the bracket. They are the no cut variety so the bracket obviously makes this possible.
I think I need some exact pictures or diagrams or something and some general advise on how to get them on perfect ????

Any help would be of great appreciation........

 :kuda:

Are the style that has a frame that goes behind the radiator or do they bolt direct onto your engine mount points?

I believe they go straight onto the engine mounts ??
They came with 2 x Knobs - one with a longer shaft, 3 x different sized bolts and 1 x corner bracket ?
Cheers

It might be worth getting a mate who knows what they are doing as you are playing with engine mounts but if your still going to do it........Ok from memory

The knobs actually stick out from the little hole in your fairing. The hole is near the corner piece just below where your knee would be when riding.

The little frames are just like relocation plates that move your slider to the hole, so the actual mount points are behind that piece of fairing. Remove the little fairing to find the engine mount. Take each bolt out and replace at a time !! When you take the bolt out position the plate their and insert a new slightly longer bolt. Before you tighten it all up make sure the sliding lines up and sits nicely with touching the fairing then torque up to spec. Re attach fairing Done
