Wet or Dry?

Sat Mar 20, 2010 8:02 am

Just wondering what's behind the cover indicated? I'm hoping it's dry i.e No Oil, then I don't need an engine cover, I've got away with not having one so far but if I know for sure I don't need one I'll be happier :?

It is dry under this cover . It covers the Ignition timing sensor.

Not sure about your model, but this is usually the iginition rotor cover - bottom of cam chain.
This holds oil on my zx10r and on my zxr750r and a cover was required...

Hmmm. well it's due for an Oil change, maybe I'll just whip that cover off once I've drained the Oil and solve this once and for all! I was worried it was a stupid question when I posted it but it certainly doesn't seem to be common knowledge. :)

one way to find out, start the bike, have it running and loosen the bolts in the cap. will seen tell you in anything is behind it.

Paul I think the biggest problem is when the scrutes pull you up & ask where the cover is, you then have to prove there is no fluids behind ...... :?
Take a photo with the cover removed & keep it for just such an occasion ;) .... thats if it is dry of course.

He had the cover off mine when he was chasing electric gremlins.
Madkaw, I think the cam chain is in the middle on the 600.
