GPX Tank Sealer?

Hi, have just noticed that my GPX 250 tank has succumbed to the dreaded pinhole leak syndrome! Have done some research online and would like to know if anyone has used the KBS MotorCycle Tank Sealer Kits and with what sort of results? So far it's only the one very tiny little hole just barely weeping on the left side bottom seam but would like to fix it before it gets any worse! I can get a second hand tank for $450 from fleabay (even the right colour) but who's to say it's not going to have the same problems anyway. Thanks Lou

Have not heard anything about the KBS stuff but POR and Kreme ?sp are suposed to get the job done . Make sure what ever you get has an etch primer to use before the final coat of goo and follow the instruction to the letter . The coating can peel away if not prepared properly .

Used the POR on my ZZR, follow the instructions and it does a great job!

por 15 i have heard is pretty good stuff and you can buy the motor bike tank kit for $75.00+postage.I read in another forum i am involved with were a bloke used it and said it was also a good paint stripper .so avoid paintwork.

I have just used the KBS tank kit and it seems to work very well, I was also talking to a mate about it and he said he used some in a tank that sprung a leak in the NT then rode it back to Perth without issue. As long as you do all the cleaning and preparation properly it works well.

Definitely use the POR-15.

I've done about 4 or 5 tanks over the years with it.

Stay away from the Kreme....I've seen some unfortunate outcomes.

Doesn't seem to like some additives in petrol and it peels.

Never used the KBS

Thanks everyone, have ordered the POR, will let you know how I get on once it's arrived and I've used the stuff. Really great to be able to get feedback from actual users, have always been a bit suss about the product feedback sites but definitely great to get some feedback and info from fellow riders. Ok, have finally got round to fixing the tank, used a POR kit, fiddly but decent instructions supplied and took almost all weekend doing it right but now have a NON leaking tank, now though have another problem and do think it's directly related to the tank, when I drained the tank I noticed water in the fuel so threw that lot away and after I fixed the tank filled with clean fuel but now the little cow won't idle below about 4000 rpm and doesn't rev clean under load till about 8000 rpm so am assuming some of that water has done some nasties inside the carbies so job for this weekend, lucky it's a long weekend up here!

Yeah Bear, quite simple to do, supplied instructions were very easy to follow, it is quite time consuming though so allow at least a full weekend to do it properly, well a full day and a bit if you don't count the refreshment breaks, lol, oh and don't do it anywhere near the kitchen table, she who must be obeyed went right off her head
