Looks good Phil.

Would love an opportunity to see it circulating again. :kuda:

Brett is a speedway buddy, Goz. Actually, you will probably know his dad, he's Brian Norman's son.

Well, it is odd that Brett should have asked even because I have told him the story already, in person and how it all happened, so I think maybe he is getting it confused and thinking that it is some other bike. As for the "i" I have never made any secret of the fact that it was a community project.

It was a great project to work on and I was really happy to be part of it - there were so many punters who contributed time money and effort into getting this bike back up and running. We all did our bit to make sure it got some track-time and riding that bike around EC with Croz will be a memory I will never forget...........even if he was just waltzing off into the distance........

Not sour grapes re: the Facebook quote - I was just a bit surprised to see that answer from Phil. Even if the bloke knows the background ( and I don't know who this guy is Phil ) - its a bit of a throwaway line that doesn't tell the real story. It just suprised me a bit to see it......

I hope Brian (Nabiac museum) has the bike in a good spot on display - it deserves to be. All the bike needs is a new top-end and it could be ridden at any event as a working piece of history. The old Mori pistons still fitted are no good at all, but crank/gearbox etc is fine. The rest of the running gear is OK as well, even if the tyres would not pass scrutineering  :P .

Mmm, funny you should mention this. I think the Gosinator and me are hatching a plot whereby I might be able to have my cake and eat it too. Watch this space.

I know a couple of historic racers that still can't believe you went out on those slicks.

 yes it was a bit howyagoin for sure ;) . The front tyre had some awesome cracks along the sidewalls - and even after those 7 laps with Croz and 20-odd laps the weekend before at Wakefield - it looked like it had never seen asphalt  hard as buggery - but still with good grip, I managed to drag the exhaust on the l/h side through the Cauldron once they had warmed up ....

Rear tyre was better - at least on the edges it looked like it had done a bit of work.

I still have another set of those slicks in the 4th. Might have to break them out on the Pearl for a CDT one year, they are sure to last the trip

update - the 'Fax is back here in Canberra. Some work planned over the next couple of months to get this old girl up to speed. I have done a deal with Phil and will be re-building the motor so it can be started like a normal Zed with a push-button. This means that Phil will be able to ride the 'Fax at selected Historic events around the country and the bike won't be destined for a lifetime as a static museum piece.

This is a great outcome for both the bike and its owner - in return I will get the good race cylinder head and the smoothbore Mikuni carbies which are currently fitted. These parts will be used on one or several of my Zeds in the 4th ;)

Overall - the 'Fax will not change in external appearance at all. But it will have a battery and a starter motor for active duty :kuda:

It is expected that Phil will be taking the old girl out for a test spin at a track day in June, the first Historic event for riding should be the 2014 Nationals in Queensland.
