I know the feeling Gos - I once got a set of factory magnesium triple clamps from TKA for the old ZXR ; insanely light, obscenely trick, there was even a bit of kanji in black texter on the steering stem. Absolutely magnificent they were :)

Cheers,
Brian

they look like a trick piece of kit ! :P I wonder what the kanji said ? 8mm offset ??

The clamps I picked up on Saturday are probably 3 times as heavy....but they are *exactly* what I needed for the hybrid 7/11. Now - I can finally fit up the good forks, 17" front wheel and Lockheed 4-fin calipers......and the hybrid will actually be a competitive Period 5 race bike !! at least, the chassis part will be ! ;) WOO HOOOOOOO

Probably something imaginative like 'steering stem' :)

Kicked a couple of goals today with the H2.....engine out, cases split, found some minor issues along the way . Thanks to PC for giving me a hand to pull the motor out.......shit they are light !!

Have given the internal a thorough clean, and run a die over all the 6mm and 10mm case studs to clean them all up - some were really very dirty.......and found some elongation in the lower engine mount castings in the lower crank half   FMD not good - so will put in some larger lower engine mount bolts to sort this out.

Cases go back together this afternoon, some minor welding on the frame (seat mounts) - and I should be almost ready to giver her a kick in the guts tomorrow !!! :kuda: :kuda:

pictures to follow.....

mate - 7.45am, I am still on the nest FFS !!!

Had a couple of epic fails this morning with the new rear tank-mount.....but kept going anyway, and eventually got a good solid mount made up. Also got the seat mount done, modified the mounting brackets for the r/h rear brake pedal....and modified the front tank-mount, to suit the new tank.

PC came over after lunch, and we slipped the motor back into the frame. Last night, Stevo turned me up some aluminium bushes, which were fitted to the lower 4 engine-mount lugs. These are nominally 10mm dia, but had flogged out to a shitty oval-shape.....so I ran a 12mm drill through them, installed the bushes which were a nice tight fit, and *bingo* - the 2 lower engine mount bolts are now a really nice snug fit in the motor as they should be.

The rattle-can spray job looks OK, and I have put a bit of time into polishing some of the alloy engine covers - they have all come up pretty nice !

I will get some photos up ASAP, its really starting to look the goods now. Next weekend - Saturday will be S-Day !!.......and Sunday, out with the video camera for some footage of lovely blue smoke !!!
