Some progress with the ZXR

Postby JimZXR » Fri Dec 23, 2011 4:22 pm

Had a little success while working on the 750 today; managed to get it to fire :D (poured fuel down carbs) but unfortunately it wouldn't run :( . So now I'm happier with the prospect of getting it running and on the road/track within 6 months.

Next to look into is the fuel pump and if no luck there; carbs stripped, cleaned and rebuilt!

Hopefully have some better news after Christmas :?

That's good mate,if the carbs had fuel dry up in them the jets are more than likely blocked from the crap in the fuel
I had an fzr a while back and every time i left fuel in the carbs and let it dry it formed a black dirt looking residue that blocked the jets.
life starts at 200 kph!

Thanks for the advice Maxumis, gonne test the fuel pump early next year once all this Christmas bollocks is done with and will probably end up cleaning the carb either way the fuel pump is :) !

After that have got to get the plug out of cylinder 1 as it's not letting me put the socket all the way down to extract it!

Watch this space! Especially after seeing the paint job on Damo1's bike am tempted to paint it in race colours!

After a long lapse due to baby and other bike projects I've picked up a running motor for ZXR#1!

Hopefully it'll become the beginning of a regeneration for this bike in 2014!
