It doesn't, to the best of my knowledge. Its only a gearing change that will affect the speedo.....but if you have a 190-section rear on, you already know how much better the steering is.....

may affect grip and tyre wear tho??

will sharpen handlin, and reduce stability....

I run a 190 shinko and I get more milage out of it than the standard Dunflop 200 that was fitted to it. Even grip is much better!!

Grip is improved when you replace the stock 208's with basically *anything* that is black and round

Tyre wear is not an issue with the 12 - nothing lasts more than 6-8k max, unless you are living and working in a 60kmh zone !! in which case you may squeeze 10k out of set of Shinkies or something like that.

Steering is improved heaps, and there is *nil* effect on stability at all. Remember, the contact patch when you are upright is exactly the same width regardless of wether its a 200 or a 190........the stability of the bike is not reduced in any way by changing to a 190 rear.

Just about every 12 owner I know has changed to a 190 rear. They are stock on the 14....

I changed......and ditched a ½ worn 200 to do it

why ?
I rode the ZX14 with a 190..and was impressed
and the guys at http://www.ozzx12r.net/
reckon its the ants pants ..a swap to a 190
(as is a swap to a 17 tooth front)

and now?
having ridden the 12 with a 200 rear ..and a 190 section rear
I gotta say the change is the best thing I have done
she tips in nicely...holds its line better
and requires less muscle especially round town

it just makes the 12 nicer :D

hth

tne choice is basically decided by how you ride i tried the 190 and found it better when flying around town but was much happier with 200 (Michelin pilot power HPX) when cornering at high speeds on the open road. i must be a little harsher then most on my bike because im on my 5th rear tyre and 2nd front and ive only just clocked up 7000km

You might wanna bung your location in your profile details, for any future rides.....normally when they get posted up by members, anyone located nearby is in for a squirt........
