Pics of the tubes that protude, 3 are short & the end one is a couple of mm longer, another strange thing.
Are they removable & different sizes, If its an odd one can they be made the same & which ones are right ?
Someone's had a party with this.
Can't attach the bloody pics.

Well looks like a big problem, 3 of the carbies are dated 1989 & the odd one is 1994, it happened to be the one with the correct needle but they all had the wrong jets.
Maybe there's someone out there with 3 dated 94 & 1 dated 89. How the hell did this happen, aliens, sabotage, got me.
So looks like I need 3 carbies at least.
Has anyone out there got anything ?
Ningainoz has been very helpful, hope youve got some spare carbies laying around.
Maybe there's a set cast aside off a tracky.

I've found 2 sets of carbies but, of course, theyre not quite right.
One is marked 92 with 180 mains & the needles aren't marked & it's too far to travel to have a closer look. Obviously the mains aren't stock so who knows what needles are in it. The bodies will have 100 main air jets pressed in so the bodies are no use, unless someone knows better ?
The other set are cast 98, off a ZX7R. Does anyone know if these will work on the 94 zxr ?

No the ZX7 carby's are spaced apart differently

You could try Bikebitstasmania>

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Kawasaki-Zx7 ... 3f221bf762

He often sells parts from a ZXR750 as ZX7 parts, Some parts interchange of course but lots of people dont know the difference too

The current CVK's I am using came from Bikebits, Good price & they were in damn good condition, Just needed a good clean up & I fitted the new pilot jets & the Factorypro jet kit & it runs great
Look around on gumtree & other ebay sellers that may be wrecking a ZXR 750 or

I've had a crash course in CVK carbies now.
I got a set from a wrecker in Sydney & turned out to be off a zx7 & not interchangeable without some serious machining & fitting so they have to go back.
There's also some scary talk of pressurized fuel bowls via the vent tubes & although I've got my doubts I'm not going to risk a set of carbies to find out, I just want to ride the old girl.
I got another set coming up from Canberra & they might be ok but yet to be seen. If they are what they sound like they'll be like yours with 180 mains & unmarked aftermarket needles, if the pilot jets are 40's I'll be very happy.
I've got to say , the wreckers we've been talking to have been very helpful & I'll be happy to deal with them again.
Jim ZXR has a lead as well but I cant do anything till this next set turns up.
Added another bike to the stock on Sunday, RGV250 1995, all original. We'll do a full strip down & rebuild with Tyga gear & some of those Chinese fairings. I have to lose 20kg before I can ride it or it'll break.

Did you get the carby's yet? Pretty sure I mentioned in a message you cant use the ZX7 carby's or didnt the wreckers know the difference between the ZXR 750 & the ZX7, Would not surprise me as I have found out along the way lots of people including those that supposedly know everything about bikes dont, I did not really know when the exact changeover from ZXR to ZX7 was but people in Bike shops & wreckers should but lots dont, Anyway hopefully you have it sorted now?

Not sure what you mean about scary pressurised fuel bowls & how would it risk a set of carby's, What has someone been telling you? How much pressure do you think could be in an airbox? Remember the carby's are sucking in air reversing the air pressure when it is going, Even at say 300k's on the road (if possible & if you can find somewhere to go that fast?) it would only have maybe a few PSI of pressure but I may be wrong? Can you tell us more

I found an alternator from a '93 zxr750 at Southwest Motorcycle Wreckers, you can give them a call and see if they have carbies too?

Its all good she goes like a rocket.
I didn't have 2 of the needle caps in place properly & the needles could float about 5mm.
Also reconnected the vent tubes all back up via the big valve thing & into the air box. there's a long slim line that seemed to end up near the inlet manifold so I connected it to one, seemed to operate a diaphram with vacuum.
We also shimmed the needles up bu about 1 mm.
I know, one thing at a time, but the bloody rain was starting so I'll work backwards another day.
Now she's going, Ive felt a jump in revs at about 10 - 11k, must be clutch slip. She'd be at max hp at those revs. Happy to install a new clutch, been pulling out my hair for weeks with the carbs.
Someone at the wreckers sent a set stamped 95, used on 96 models, they were marked ZX7R but wasn't till I called back & got the boss that it was cleared up & I'll get a refund.
At that stage it was all I had & was going to machine up the 96 carbs to fit onto all the original running gear, but holy crap that was going to be a monster & no guarantee it would work. The new carbs ran leaner jets & the needles measured up the same so the pressurized carbs seemed to make sense to boost the fuel delivery but I'v got a 94 & less ram flow so without NASA in the shed I was getting too deep, best to just get a correct set & bolt them on which is what happened, Joe's at Canberra had a 93 stamped set in perfect condition & away we went.
Thanks for all the help.

Just about ironed out all the bugs & she's a beauty.
What an awesome thing they must have been when they came out.
Anyway I have a minor issue with an oil leak from the rubber pipe out of the sump. I bought a new hose $44 just to fix it but it still leaks & I cant get the clamp any tighter or it'll wreck the new pipe.
Has anyone had the same problem & if so what was the remedy ?
It's making a mess & getting onto the back tyre & the rear brake.
Regards

Bought a new RGV250 back in '93. Just beautiful. Wish I had kept it but hey that's normal wishing I had kept old bikes.
As for the oil leak, I have the same problem with my gpx750 (same engine I think). It's the same place by the sounds of it. It drips on the exhaust too. I was just going to drop the oil, pull the fitting apart and use some gasket seal. See how we go.
(Unless you got it fixed in which case it would be god to know what you did

Nope still leaking. It seem the sump pan bolt head behind the clamp is the problem. Struggling for time to spend tinkering but I'll try to find a wire type clamp that'll fit up past the bolt head & clamp down on the hose better.
The RGV's getting expensive to restore, going to port it & re nikasil the barrels, new pistons etc etc, my 20yr old son is imagining about 80 hp. Tyga exhausts & fairings are here now & maybe F1 Moto at Buxton for the porting. Power valves, bearings, heads, paint, bloody hell what have we started. I'll see it through just to have a ride, sounds like theyre insane when all done properly. Next on the list is a 500 !
