So I bought that zx7r I was watching. I didn't buy it through eBay though, I made an offer outside and picked it up yesterday.

As the eBay ad listed there is damage to the rhs. Fairing scraped, front brake lever nfg (front breaks stiff half locked on), rhs front indicator mia, exhaust/pipes has minor damage but non too serious, and the valve is popped out of the rear tire causing it to remain unenthusiastic. Is listed as an economical repairable write off from qld.

I had to have this one as it is the same as the first p4 I owned, including color scheme. The bloke I brought it from at adrenaline was telling me about how it was rare and different, then I told him it was the second one I've owned.

As far as I can understand I've got a few options available now. If I want to get it rego'd in Vic immediately I can repair everything listed as required to get it past a viv check and then go for roadworthy and rego. This will mean the fairings will need to be fixed or replaced even though they aren't so bad wouldn't normally be required to be fixed for the sake of getting a roadworthy.....

or

I get to work, put some hours in and swap everything onto the spare (matching) frame I have and avoid the viv, get it immediately roadworthy/rego'd. This will give me an opportunity to pull the bike right down and thoroughly check everything out, which could be a massive bonus....

or

I can wait until December for the bike to be over 15 years old and save some coin by avoiding the viv and just getting it roadworthy/rego'd.

Once again I find myself with heaps of spares from having previously owning a 7, which is awesome. Spewing I sold a few parts off already. If I was on the home computer I'd add a heap of kudas, but I'm not so mr green will have to do

Well done mate, good looking bike!

Depends on how quickly you need to scratch the riding itch?

Personally I'd strip and rebuild and there should be plenty of parts available for it on eBay/Gumtree.

You can also get the Hong Kong fairings for it too which is a bonus!

I think I have a rebuilt front brake MC with a new Pazzo short lever attached in the garage off my old ZXR750 trackie which only went out once; PM me if you're interested.

Thanks for the offer. I'll keep it in mind but I've got all the brakes off the old one so they're available if need be.

Pulled some brake calipers apart today in preparation of a rebuild. Apparently I went through there whole process back to front, but I've learnt now. The rebuild kit is on the way so I've got time to clean these up and get them ready.

Here's a pic of some of the gross shit I located behind the pistons.

OMG looks like someone cracked the bleeder nipple and attacked it with a grease gun.

Was it a writeoff? I was told that once they are listed they're on it forever or until repaired - and you can't just wait out the 15 years.

I am yet to check that one out properly, it's just information that was given to me at the time of sale. Probably bullshit, but it's irrelevant. All parts are going to be transferred onto my other base. No issues with wovr. ;-)

Had similar gunk behind the pistons on my ZXT callipers before the rebuild.
