Finally got the bike back on the road and registered as of today!!!
I thought I might post up a quick account of what the bike has been through in its life time. I bought the bike from a private seller in 2008. It had damage to the RHS from a lowside that apparently occurred in Tasmania. To clean it up a little I went out and found the closest matching touch-up can I could find (which really didn't match very well).
After a while I got sick of people asking "when did you drop it?" so I figured I'd give it a new paint job. It was another rattle can paint job but it was in the Harlequin stylem colour changing shit. This was a dark time. By this time I'd also shortened the can that came with it.
It stayed like that for a while until I realised how bogan I looked riding around. I figured I'd do another re-spray. This time I got myself a spray gun and compressor to do the job a little better than the previous. I loved the look of white bikes so that was going to be the way it would go. I wanted to keep the design of the factory paint so I followed the lines in parts matching the original.
And later, after adding decals and again after adding white reflective rim tape.
I was quite happy with it now and it stayed like this for a long time. The 7 was my daily ride. We had a family car but the wife obviously needed that to get around so this was my mode of transportation. Eventually I had a change in employment which would see me spend 6 months in Melbourne. The bike got me back and fourth from country Victoria to Melb without any issues.
After that I moved to here to Warrnambool. I was only here for a short time when I ended up having a little incident involving a roo. It went across the bike taking the front wheel with it. The bike came down on the RHS. At the time there was very little available in the way of fairings and I decided to streetfighter it to get it back running and on the road. As a result....................
Another dark time came and I started not riding so much. We had a second car so the bike wasn't necessary. I bought a couple of old GPZ 550's that I planned on (and still plan on) fixing up and though I'd get more out of the 7 if I just wrecked it and sold off the parts. It was in bits in my shed for a while until I again decided to fix it up. I found another P4 with all the bits on it that were trashed from the roo hit. I brought a set of Chinese fairings matching my old paint scheme and put it all together. I got new braided lines, rebuilt and re-sprayed the anchors, replaced the wheel and steering head bearings, and replaced the sprockets and chain. It got registered today and went for it's first spin. I'm happy as a pig in shit.
Here it is..........
