What started as a simple rocker cover gasket change has lead to all sorts of places. Had to drop the motor to get it off, so checked clearances as you would, so then did the shims as some were out, discovered 3 stripped cam cover bolts which have had to be helicoiled. Some pics -

Good pics.

Just look at it as part of the process of making a good bike even better!!

Hope so! Always a little nervous doing anything top end on something like this but its in good hands, a mate of mine has been able to do the tricky stuff that I'd struggle with and had all the shims etc he knows what he's doing after years of OW01 etc tuning. Will balance carbs too once it back up and running. Lots of small bits and pcs to do aswell like a better seal on the airbox, all adds up to better running and maybe a couple of bhp who knows? Aiming for a June 14 trackday at Broadford since I haven't ridden it in a while. Do the slotted cams look like they are positioned in the slots where you would expect them to be??

Why did you remove the camshafts ? The rockers slide across the to access the shims !

They're not spring mounted unless you mean taking the end cap off the head and sliding the whole rocker shaft? It's as well we did in anycase given the stripped cam cap bolts.....

Great pic!

Haven't seen the inside of one of these motors and noticed the bearings near the cam chain, is that normal for one of these motors?
