Tough Break Kempy, play it smart an be a good lad till you can play properly again or it becomes a complete Train crash that i wouldnt wish on a Volvo Taxi driver. The Little Crew that i did the PI trip from ACT inc we 3 Qlders all chipped in $50 each (10 scoots) for OUR lead riders fine, which he incurred on tuesday the 19th about 15ks from Annaminaby (Sp),
Bloody Ducati riders if they hadnt slowed us up n split the group up, maybe we wouldnt have been doing the excessive speeds to catch up n maybe the lead rider wouldnt have put his head down when he saw us catching up an maybe, maybe, maybe. Bottom line the 2 front bikes were doing 210 just before the crest an they slowed up to get him done at 164km $440 8 points of his ACT licence and cant ride in Vic for 12 months. First Copper they had seen on that road in 7 gp n 3 superbike trips. law of averages says Its gotta happen you be naughty sooner or later you get a spank.
Trip was a BALL, the tiggr made me look like i could "ride a bit".
Thank God brissie roads suck no way i could keep a licence if i lived close to the snowies.
Cheers Brett

I can only compare it to last year but we saw HEAPS more coppers and cameras this year compared to last year...and we had a lot less bikes coming past at warp speed as well.

I'd have to check the legislation, but my understanding is that the "vehicle" must come to a complete stop, with the test being that the wheels are no longer rotating.

If I remember, I'll check it out.

Actually, I had nothing better to do, so I thought i'd have a look.
I can find nothing in the acts interpretation act defining the term "stop".
This normally means that the word is as defined in the dictionary.
Therefore:
"To halt the motion or progress of.
To cease moving, progressing, acting, or operating; come to a halt."

Interestingly enough, I can not find anything with regards to specifics re: stopping a motorcycle.

It's important to note that when speaking about "stopping" type offences they are referred to in the Australian Road Rules and are now the same in every state.

There may be case law with regards to a similar matter, but I sure as hell aint going to be looking it up.

If anyone gets pinched for failing to stop because they didn't put their feet down, I would be advising that they take the matter to court.

Sorry this doesn't help you tho Kempy.

Wot a pissa Kempy, at least you'll get fit on ya shank's pony or treddlie. At the track day i did at QR i met a quite few blokes who'd lost their licences, track is a good place for speeding with no stop signs (just red flags)

I'd suggest the book is a "guide". I've checked and rechecked, and I can find nothing in the QLD legislation stating that a stop must be for a minimum of 3 seconds.

TRANSPORT OPERATIONS (ROAD USE MANAGEMENT--ROAD RULES) REGULATION 1999 - SECT 68
68 Stopping and giving way at a stop sign or stop line at other places
(1) This section applies to a driver approaching or at a place (except an intersection, children's crossing, level crossing, or a place with twin red lights) with a stop sign or stop line.

(2) The driver must stop at the stop line or, if there is no stop line, the driver must stop as near as practicable to, but before, the stop sign.

Maximum penalty--20 penalty units.

(3) The driver must give way to any vehicle or pedestrian at or near the stop sign.

Maximum penalty--20 penalty units.
