I'm sure you'll enjoy your Mal, hell, it's a ute, how could it not be good. :kuda:

Nigel Pitch took me for a drive in his supercharged SS ute a while back and all I could think was 'how the fuck are you supposed to keep the thing in a straight line?'. 500 kW in a ute is a crazy combination.

Yeah but think of the fun trying Nelso....mwahaha

Just got myself a peice of history

Postby fireyrob » Sat Aug 09, 2014 4:23 pm

I was lucky enough to punt around yesterday at EC a Harrop fed VF Maloo and a C63 Amg Coupe. The Merc was clinical, the ute agricultural...

The Merc clearly had it everywhere over the Maloo but geez the ute was impressive for what it costs. Feeling the drivetrain banging around, the gates of the gearbox notchy, it was a ball of fun.

Will be sorely missed in 10 years time but really hope something comes in to replace this fun factor at the price. The Merc was great and power wise kept pulling hard where the Ute died away. But clinical and less engaging if that makes sense.

Have a ball Mal :kuda:

Yep the ute is smooth and effortless power,i accidently hit the limiter in first the other day, and yesterday hit it in second. I have no idear what speed it hit it at as I was busy watching what was going on.Its a bit like a time warp one second your here next second you there, dont think I will be getting to the limiter in third anytime soon unless I want to loose the ute for 30 days and probably my licence.I actually think a system will save me a little as you will be able to hear it a little better mind you the wine of the supercharger is pretty cool.

Nope not that I am aware of this time, and you cant go by the initial tests as they have been proven to be bogus.
I would love a shoot out between a R8 ute and a Pursuit although the answer is pretty obvious 315 Rear wheel kw plus 15 % overboost so that's around 360 Rear wheel KW.Even the 94,000 new mallo is going to struggle to get that on the rear wheels.I found out why the Pursuit didn't get the same motor as the sedan when the power was put down the angle that the uni joint and drive chain lifted to was out of spec. They started doing test on the RTV ford ute rear train to reduce the angles but firstly ran out of time and also mr ford said to FPV nope your not developing this any further for 120 utes.If that did go ahead you would have been looking at 400 kw plus Rear wheel on a ute.INSANE

As I said before. Live rear axle is gay as.

I just got a bf tray back ute. The rear end is terrible even with the 6 cylinder.
Putting big power though that drivetrain is madness. And not in a fun way.

Latest wheels has an actual drive of the GTS v GT-F

Quite rightly it didnt declare either car a winner. Just that generations to come will
never get to drive a new version of either. Shame

It's all about Torque not kW. The VY stroker only has 320kW at the wheels on the CHE dyno but it will blow either of these into the weeds i.e. 400m in sub 11's.

My whole point is the Ford is shitloads cheaper, and really the holden is using old engine,6.2 litre , for a 5.0 litre to be that close is not really an achievement.
Really 16 Valve gm what were you thinking ??? what im saying is bang for your buck regardless of torque in the case of these 2 cars the Ford has it.Yes it is sad that the next generation wont get anything like these units.

I am not sure how FPV have done it but even with the axle set up if you drive it with some common sence it actually steers better than my BA xr8 sedan did, also its way better in the wet than I expected. When its out of warranty and I get some 10 inch rubber on the rear im pretty sure it will get the power down pretty well.Infact obviously first gear will always be an issue but once rolling and in second ot grips pretty well.
