while i was away, a mate of mine had a bike over take a car in the opposite direction and while overtaking the bike slid out from underneather the bloke and went for my mate car. it was only at 50-60km/h. my mates front end it totally fucked. The funny part is:

the bloke is a learner on a 250 cbr250rr (nice looking 250 the cbr250rr), was wearing a muscle top and 3/4 pants.

i've seen the photo's of the bike, car and injured bloke. the bloke's gonna be sore for a while.

everytime i see people with minimal protective clothing, i think "good luck to ya".

there are plenty of items that can be worn during summer/hot weather.

From experience...

You only have to endure the pain of having a nurse scour gravel out of your skin once, to learn to ride with appropriate gear.

Call me a wimp, but I have no intention of going through the first gravel rash if I can avoid it.

My summer riding gear consists of a DriRider DriMesh vented jacket, some vented gloves and either draggin jeans or DriRider pants.

I have a Walden Miller Jacket, Helmet, Dri-Rider gloves that DON'T air and smell! Woo! Smell! I don't wear real pants, only jeans but I have fallen off in cargo pants before and well, my knees have enough scars now. I have Falco boots but I can't wear them with the 636 because I can't touch the ground so I have to wear my boing shoes till I get some bricks put on the bottom of my real ones.

I wear my jacket religiously. I feel naked without all my gear on! Sure, it's kinda crap sitting at the traffic lights in 35 degree heat and even the breeze doesn't help in a fully enclosed leather jacket but whatever. I don't wanna lose the small amount of boobs I already have! :lol: I have my leathers on order but they will only be for track days, hard pushing rides and winter.

No one mentioned the camelback its a essential peice of equipment for summer queensland rideing It wont save your skin but if you dont have anywhere to put a drink there the go.

I have been known to go out in tshirt and jeans, yes you can see the missing patch of skin on my forearm,but full leathers tend to be a bit garish if your out doing buisness etc i just try to keep a good distance from everything else but hey "watch those green tyres there slippery".

I also have a textile and leather jacket and 2 pairs of leather bottoms and wouldnt consider going on a "ride" without them, hey if nothing else they stop the sunburn which is bloody painful enough.

Speaking of sunburn, I have a strip about 2 inches high and 8 inches wide where my jacket comes up while leaning over on the 636 that is completely tanned and the rest of me is like chicken white. Pretty funny lookin.

I just bought a Collins jacket on Ebay for $200 and it was really good to ride around the other day (Bloody Hot Day). Problem is that its a bit small and I have to take a deep breath just to zip the bloody thing up! I'm just going to go all out and get a 2 piece suit early next year...

are your new leathers 2 peice..I have a pair of agv plain black pants that are ok without a jacket on and not too loud for shopping centers and stuff but will save aheap of skin if you have a off at speed(over 80kph) just get some with no sliders on them.

And if you are looking for a camel back or its equivilant go to amart allsports they range in price but i think i paid $35 for a generic version last year.
