Mon Aug 16, 2010 9:44 am

G'day everyone
My name is Peter 51 yrs ( not that I act it) and was given the details of KSRC by jason @ retrorider who said this is the pool of knowledge that I need to tap into. I have been riding since Honda mini trails were new on the market upto @ 5yrs ago & I am now starting a project bike..78 z650 into a Cafe I recieved my donor bike on the weekend & hope to get the other this coming weekend, so over the next year I hope you will be able to assist with any problems that no doubt I will incur.
Oh! special mention "Gosling1" I was told that you are the guru on these bikes, would love to speak at length with you before the stupid mistakes start.
Cheers Chimp

Hi Peter Welcome to KSRC, I am sure Gos will be along shortly with an introduction :P
Oh.....& with a username chimp I would be careful of Ron (6maniac) & Gos, both of whom frequently grace these pages with monkey porn from their extensive collections

Welcome abord, i'm just up the road in North Coburg and if ya need help with the project, suggest DON'T call me as I know fuck all, or maybe slightly less than that, I can however, stand around and watch you work and drink your beer as seems to be the modus operandi at Casa Madkaw in NSW so if you need assistance there, feel free to give me a yell. :)

Hi Pete - welcome aboard mate. I promise not to bombard you with monkey-porn photos, although I am sure that Ron will throw in a couple.....

Great to hear that another z650 cafe project is about to get underway.....there are a couple of nice ones floating around up here in Anarchy Road (ACT), and I am sure we will be able to help you out with whatever info you need.

Mick LC has a very nice z650B1, not a cafe racer but a really well-detailed and maintained every day rider, Metal Triumph (Al) has done up one of the tastiest 650 cafe racers getting around, I have a daily rider '81 model......there are a few other members here who have also played with these bikes over the years......

Have you got any photos yet ? Always good to keep a record of the progress.....

Goodonya mick, I like a man who knows his limitations and very impressed when he can turn that limitation into a positive! lol

Yes mate, that is the black and gold rig. Very tidy it is. If you do a search on this forum for 'Silver Surfer' - you will find threads with Mick's z650 and some pictures.....
