Thermal pack for winters

Hi dudes ,

Is $99 a good price? I have no doubts Dri-rider is a good brand. Thoughts and suggestions?

Price is decent yes, however I have a pair of those pants and didn't find them very effective

It's the age old story of you get what you pay for i'm afraid, we (ages ago now) had a group buy of thermals that was arranged by Jason, our friendly motorcycle cop, can't tell you what brand they were but if you do a search for thermal and make aardvark the author you'll find the thread, he did a bit of research it seems and came up with the best option and indeed worked out a deal with a supplier.

Been a fair bit of water under the bridge since then, might well be worth revisiting.

Kathmandu have a sale at the moment. Can usually get good thermals there.

I got some last year at 50% off sale, near the end of winter. Usually $69 each, so it cost me a bit over $100 for 1 x long sleeve, 1 x short sleeve and 1 x long pants..........

But watch out as they also sell the cheapies (the stripe ones from memory) so again you'll get what you pay for.....

ps heated handgrips cost about the same as decent winter gloves and are way more effective

Imo, the Damart's are warmer than the Icebreaker's for winter riding.

Gotta agree with above, I bought a primo dryrider jacket and pants last year, was very disappointed. Was cold and always got damp, the quality seems to have dropped off alot IMO

In defense of dri rider I have a top line dri rider jacket ( about 8 years old) and has ALWAYS kept me warm and dry. I went riding with Wattie in that recent torrential downpour that flooded everywhere. Anyways I was completely dry on top and warm. Wattie on the other hand had a newer one and managed to be damp underneath by about half way there. So after about 2-3 hours or so I had puddles in my boots, wet legs from perforated leathers but dry from the neck down.

Their older stuff must be a tad better

Agreed. I've had a Dri-rider climate control for about 4 years now. It always manages to keep me dry where all my other gear fails. Hopefully i'll be replacing it with the newer version so it'll be interesting to see if it's just as good.

Katmandu thermal top is a cracker, but find the pants too hot under draggins..

Long Trips: Dry rider Pants and jacket for warmth and dryness..Thinsalate gloves are awesome
Short trips: Thin rain suit on short trips can do the trick simply by blocking the wind out..

Still looking for decent long socks!..
Keep an eye on camping stores, they have some great specials

I bought a 100 % merino long sleve top from aldi $50 and its pretty good,so also keep an eye out for them.
