Rg500 mk5 110bhp
my own cb1100r 106bhp
my own tz750 130bhp
most tz350's where between 65-70 bhp
the best tz250's where making 60bhp and very fragile with it.
I didn't see them but i was told that the P&M Kawasakis http://teamjamracing.com/PM.aspx which where second tier competitive at the time where putting out about 125 bhp.
Knowing all that is what makes me doubt even 150 bhp, but as you say, without hard numbers we'll never know......
There was a 2-valve kawasaki built here in Oz back in the early 80's, known as The Syndicate. It put out 164hp at the countershaft, measured on an engine dyno. There is a thread about it in this section of the forum - a truly legendary bike, only raced for 2 seasons, took out an NGK Superbike title, and absolutely blitzed everything it raced against, including the quickest TZ750's in the country at the time. Shame it is rotting in a corner of a shed in Melbourne, under a tarp, never to see the light of day again....
Steve Martin rode a GSX1100 Katana at this years Island Classic - it has been dynoed at 180hp at the back wheel - probably helps that a drag racer built the motor ! I reckon if I threw enough money at my own motor, it would crack 140hp pretty easily......just don't have $30k to thow at it......

Oh to say " my own TZ 750 " no matter how many ponies
There is a TZ 350 in the UK , and been here , making a reported 84 bhp Regular ICGP winning bike .
Better get Mr yzr750 down to share the Island Classic hey Gos ??
Fuck yeah !! That would be great ! How many of your old bikes do you still have yzr750 ? Have you been to the Island Classic ?? Its a great meeting, the premier Historic race meeting in Oz. Geez I enjoyed racing Billy's LC350 at this gig, earlier this year.......it was a ton of fun !!
but I think this old girl should get a run there next year........we'll see.....
(except with different carbies shhhhhh)
