It has primary and reserve

Hhmm.... someone who actually knows what they're talking about will be along soon enough  You could always try popping the fuel line off and pouring some fuel down there? Buuut with only main and reserve does that mean the carbs gravity feed?

Just an update, gonna check cam timing and will now have to remove spark plug thread from the head :( what ever happend to hard steal that could handle a lil bit of torsional stress? This soft steel just falls apart just from lookin at it funny

baby zzrs, like baby gpx's have a fuel tap which says on, off and prime. the tap is a vacuum operated pump. prime allows for priming (oddly enough) when youve been a plonker and run it completely dry.

check the basics - got spark?
got compression?
is there fuel in the carbies (drain them to see)
are all the vacuum lines installed? like pump, bloking caps for carb balancing etc
are the plugs getting any fuel?
cam timing - it is a c&nt to check with the engine in; and a bigger c&nt to reset with it in

how do i know? - first little kwak was a gpx 250 that came in many boxes and a price tag of $100; after it got going, did about 10 more of them and zzr's

maybe consider getting a cheap runner off fleabay or somethin n pinch the donk from that till ya get this one sorted? as said above the gpx and zzr twofiddys share the same engine.. heaps easy to find more of them :D :kuda:

hopefully u get some progress one way or the other :)

So iv been told its a real prick to prime the carbs once they have been drained and u have to just keep turning it till it starts is there any truth to this iv drained and recharged the batteries 3 or 4 times doin this can any1 confirm if this is the case?

Blown head gasket?

When u open the drain on the carbs does fuel come out?

There is a drain on them? Iv just been blowing on the breather tube and when I do yes fuel does come out

at the bottom of each bowl there is a screw, that is the drain plug

if you have spark and compression and after turning it over your plugs are wet, then i would say you are more than likley to be 1 tooth out on the cam timing,
good luck

Yea its timing, I don't have the tools to hold the clutch hub while I undo the locking nut so I'm giving up and taken the engine to a MOTO mechanic to get it sorted. Now I'm just worried that I have bent the valves with the piston when I tried to start it after the 2nd attempt at fixing it any1 know how tough they are?

if you are only 1 tooth out and or the engine turns over freely like it should or you haven't forced it to turn over when it didn't want to you should be alright,
i had my tensioner fail on a gpz900r and the cam chain jumped a tooth on the cam and it did no damage, but that may have just been luck :)

If only one tooth, it will be fine.
