Exhaust servo 2011 zx10r

Hey there!

Does anyone know if the new zx10 needs a servo buddy when getting a new slipon on?

If you just remove the cables and leave the servo motor will it throw the FI error?

My z1000 doesn't throw the error with the motor still there minus the cables, just curious if its the same story!

If it is anything like the ZX6R, it can and probably will at some point. All you need to do is get one of this:

And then you can get rid of the whole thing (cables, servo, etc) and it will never throw any code.

Right, so if the servo is attatched to the cat its fine to leave it there when you get a slip on? Won't make it sound odd or anything?

It looks like the servo is attached to the boom box, so you will only need to remove if you get a link pipe also..a simple slip on would require no mod to servo..

The 11" ZX10R is not like the 09-12" ZX6R, the 11" ZX10R has the CAT, boom box, & servo motor together as pictured above.

Vanrootn, hoffy is correct swap OEM muffer for the slip on and you're done; no servo buddy required for just a slip on.

He has ordered a Jardine gp1 pipe!

Looks like it would be loud as, anyone here tried one out?

Also is there a need for a power commander or similar? I figure with it being a slip on only it should be ok?

Not particularly! initially I was annoyed and tried to get db reducers... Now I'm just used to it :twisted:

The Jardine pipe was his choice after hearing my bike haha

Slip on doesn't require power commander; however if you put a link pipe for your bike you will need to; as your deleting the CAT.

I can gaurentee that if you just disconnect the servo cables you will be fine,

It will not show an error, the servo just does it's thing when you turn the ignition on, but it wont affect the bike at all...

But as mentioned above, if you grab the new 'servo buddy' for the 2011 zx10 you can get rid of the servo completely..

Then you will have plenty of room for your power commander..

A couple of mixed messages I think. If you just replace the slip-on can, the cat box underneath (called the Collector) stays in place, you get a slightly different sound with luck and don't touch the servo. Minor performance changes but essentially cosmetic - deliberately designed for Bling addicts who want to look cool and it's not hard to improve on the stock can's appearance.

If you fit the link pipe, you need to disconnect the servo cables at the servo motor but do not remove motor or the electrical connector to it. You also need to unscrew the footpeg and footguard to release the cables and partially remove the cowling. You then disconnect the Collector at the headers connection and the lambda sensor and unscrew the Collector hanging bracket. This way, you remove the Collector with the cables still attached and replace with the link pipe as per maker's instructions.

You now need either the servo buddy or the PC. A PC then needs to then be mapped on a dyno. Not sure about the servobuddy. The local cost for a PC plus dyno work until it's right is around $800 at a reputable shop - like Ron at Flywheels in Sydney. I'm sure there are ways to buy the PC overseas and negotiate mates rates at the dyno that reduce this somewhat.

Although he isnt a sponsor, he is a member here and since we dont have any suitable sponsors locally I can recommend Brad @ Enhanced automotive, Bremen Dr Salisbury South 8250 2233, great advice and will do all the tuning for you, yes he does cars as his core business but you will find he is quite the sportsbike tuner as well as a respected racer.

He did 10R ;)

Yeah its all done now! He was just after bling and a little but more noise! Only reason I really asked was because i couldn't see the bike and was curious as to what needed to be done...
