ZRX forks and triple clamps

Thu Jun 20, 2013 9:02 pm

Hi all,

Just looking to gather a little information for my ZRX-suspension-goes-into-shagged-out-MkII project. I've recently been lucky enoughto score a pair of '07 ZRX12 forks off MKY on this very forum, and now I'm trying to find out about which triple clamps to use.

As I understand, fork diameter at 43mm is the same across all years of the 1200. Where I fall a little flat is in the clamps - my usual source of info for part number comparison, http://www.buykawasaki.com, crashes and burns given the ZRX was not sold in the US after '05. I've yet to go and look at OEM specs for trail, but my question : do all models of the 1200 use the same triple clamps, or are there differences ? If so, which years should I be chasing and why ?

Thanks in advance,
Brian

All 1200 triples are the same as far as I know. They are definitely different to the 1100's and there is a difference in the fork internals between the early 1200 and the later models, but nothing else changed on the 1200s apart from colours.

Thanks Nelso. Looking at some specs on http://www.zrxoa.org/webpages/generalinfo/factoryspecs/factoryspecs.html, the 01-03 shows 4.1 inches trail while the 04-05 is apparently 4.2in. Presumably less offset in the later clamps, although I can't imagine 2.5mm trail is going to make any real difference at the speeds I'll be wobbling round at !

Cheers,
Brian
