ABS or non ABS

Fri Jan 30, 2015 12:11 pm

I am seriously considering the current model ZX10 and was wondering what the consensus is regarding ABS.

My main worry is will it affect the feel at the lever when it is not activated ie. normal riding.......plus it's $1K less.

I'd be tempted to go for ABS on the road for rainy days and diesel

I was thinking the same Tim, but I wouldn't want to give up good feel on the dry fast days.

I haven't had any concerns with the abs on the zed...no lack of feel and I was glad the one time it did cut in.

ive not noticed any different feel on the hyper, unless of course it is locked up... i figure it cant hurt...

but i guess if a non-abs version was available for less money i probably would have bought it too

On road tyres, I would go the ABS. They turn them off on race bikes because you can brake harder on slicks than the bike lets you, but I doubt you would ever need that much on the road and the peace of mind having it there for slippery surfaces would be a bonus.

Just get abs.
If you want to know how far abs has come, ride a speed triple R.
It has 80s abs and brembos. What a shit heap. Until you throw the abs fuse in the bin

Yeh I agree with the rest of the lads. Get ABS for the road and if your doing a track day just remove the fuse.
Peace of mind on the road for when that sudden stop is needed on a slippery surface.

Ive done a track day on my Ninja 1000 ABS & without going balls out, It was hardly noticeable, stopping on the back straight at Wakeyfield, I did notice it come on a couple of time, but the bike stopped straight & true every time.. Go the ABS for the road, Its a great system & really doesn't interfere ... For racing if your an A grader maybe pull the fuse. But if your not let it do its stuff..
