Re: zx9r 96 not a CCT noise but Altenator chain noise

after the first ride out for the day I noticed a rattle noise.....AGAIN...thinking the same had happened. nope it was the manual cam chain tensioner a little loose so a quick nip and no more noise. The lock nut had come loose cause the main bolt to unwind......lol!!

Just a note..if you over tighten ...

ended up being a broken auto tensioner for the altenator chain behind the clutch basket. chain was as loose as.
I did change the Cam Chain auto tensioner to a APE manual one just in case....lol!! :D

zx9r 96 not a CCT noise but Altenator chain noise

I have a 96 model zx9r and have had a chain rattle noise for a bit of time...thinking nothing of it....Kawasaki normal noise...but drove me mad

First you would think Cam chain. I did the usual by changing to a APE manual CCT....lifted the valve cover and had a peek at the Cam Chain and everything ...

1996 zx9r cam chain

ok....here is my next project as a newbie.

nice little chain rattle sound more likely the cam chain from what I have read. I have since replaced my auto tensioner, that had failed, with a APE manual unit but I think the chain is either worn or skiped a tooth because of the failed tensioner. The ...

Re: zx9r alternator adjustment

well i just found a alternator tensioner on the left side of the motor under a plate. there is adjustment that can be made on a bolt to add and release tension...might be a job for the weekend to see if any slackness is there.

zx9r blank plate

I have a 96 zx9r and I have a question on something resembling a blanking plate.

I was thinking it is an inspection plate for the cam chain.

another ...

zx9r alternator adjustment

Just a thought on finding a chain noise.

Like the zxr750 h1 where you can adjust the alternator belt if it start squelling or making noise....is there some adjustment for the zx9r or the chain connecting it.

I have changed the auto CCT to a ape manual and there is still a rattle. I can hear a ...
