I set my mirrors so I just see the edge of my elbows (& edge of my rack) rather then the lanes either side. I find it less distracting and safer.

As for gear changes.... sometimes I shift from 1st-2nd before turning at the lights and other times around 5-6K or during extremes just below the red ...

I have a 2002 and it's metalic silver with graphics and dark frame. The 2005 is plain silver (no graphics)

On my ZZR600 (2002 model) I saw the needle hit 240kmh - the GPS recorded 237kmh and there was more in the reserve. On my Honda CB250 I went off the dial @130Kmh+ (down the hill ofcourse)

I get involved in less road rage now that I use my Sydney Survival Rules......
- Ride faster then the traffic
- If a dickhead is tailgaiting, get way by speeding up, splitting lanes, slowing down.
- I don't give them the finger (or horn unless absolutely necessary) I just shake my head or flash the ...

If you go via the coast you'll go past 7 or 8 fixed speed cameras (depending on your exact route). Most of them are between Wollongong & Nowra. Last one is 500m south of Nowra Shoalhaven ...

According to my GPS mapping software....

Princes Hwy via Nasho, then main coast road to Batemans Bay = 261 Km (2 hrs 58 mins) then Batemans Bay to Canberra = 148Km (1 hr 34 mins)

In comparison, Liverpool to Canberra (Hume Hwy) = 250Km (2hrs 22mins)
