yeah i do like the idea of tinkering over a few years while i ride a newer bike. especially considering the only thing i really want left upto a shop to do is the engine and exhaust, parts that either shit me off completely when working (10 minuite streams of obscenities... like this ...
used: 400 grit wet and dry 800 grit wet and dry 1200 grit wet and dry autosol paste.
now i was told in the past on a different forum "dont even bother trying to polish metal, it takes too long and your results wont be anything like you wanted" i was ...
basically the engine is in decent condition, the only real problems are the starter clutch and the primary chain.
however i was planning on doing a semi ground-up rebuild on the bike in the near future, its going to be my bike for a long long time and want it back to near perfect ...
Ok, so im preparing to get my engine fully rebuilt in a few months and it will take 6-8 weeks of sitting at the shop to source some of the parts, so they said its in my best interest to find some if i wish, or if i have preferences/cheaper options.
yeah this used to happen to my ole GPX250 alot, dirty/shitty/loose/dead connections. nearly every electrical connection in that bike was the same, indicators, ignition barrel (had to jiggle it to get it to come on), ignition switch etc.
homemade threaded rod from hi tensile steel, 5 attempts to work out how to get it in without something to grab onto (tried the double nut thing, couldnt gettem off, tried sticky tape, etc etc etc.
So ive done a search and found some results in relation to loud cans... which is my issue.
the 4-1 shorty pipe isnt loud until you scream it... so it should pass blueslip. although I am usually doubtfull and have considered looking into a plug or baffle? or even stuffing it with heavy steel wool ...
on this note, when i get some gear together, is there anyone in the sydney area that could show me a thing or two? just how to get started, use the controls on the gun (although thats what books and the internet are for) and just basically kick me off the edge.
well were fixing up the missus ZZR250 (fallen_angel) and weve gotten it to a nice point, but need to hang the fairings back up. they were always held on by a mishmash of bolts and allen bolts.... and dont want / need genuine flat top bolts from kawasaki.
