My arse has a crack in it.....

Post by Glen »

Bitch, bugger, shit,.......

Pulled the pillion seat off the 10 yesterday and, damn it I've developed the ZX10 crack in the plastics on the rear mounting points.

Oh well off for a 6000 service and round 1 of the Kawasaki warranty claim game for me........

I'll keep everyone posted on how it goes.

Good luck mate. I've got my new tail section sitting in the garage ready to be put on...just make sure they order the stickers as well as the tail section  I'm still waiting for mine.

Cause I wangled putting it on myself I still have the old one which will be handy if I almost highside again like I did last week on cold tyres with too much throttle

Thats just about all of us now...

I'm sure Kawi will tell you its not a common problem... as they did me..
 but they will change it as an act of good will.. :?

I was told its caused by fender mods or lifting the bike from the rear panel.. "cough" bullshit "cough"...

If you have any problems, ring Kawi direct.. I did after the dealer told me it wouldn't be covered...

10 envy..... It's a common problem. :)

I've made contact with a local Kawa dealer (the same location that I bought it from, albeit now a different dealer who interestingly now provide loan bikes), to book it in for the service and I mentioned the problem. I straight away got the following response.

"I've heard of one other doing this and it was mishandling when moving it around that caused it. Kawasaki replaced it not under warranty but as a goodwill measure." I played it cool bit my tongue and thought OK, looks like it's game on. Pointed out to the bloke that I know of at least another three that have had the problem and have been replaced. He said they'd have a look at it and talk to Kawasaki. This will be interesting.

I haven't actually booked the service yet so I'll see in the next couple of weeks.

I'm getting a sense of deja vu... have they been reading my posts..??

I'm guessing that was Micheal...

They replaced mine, but they did that after the mishap so they may be using that as the cause. They know it wasn't as there was no damage at all to the rear they only found it when putting the bike back together.
The one they are probly talking about is Mark, my neighbour, and that was the story they told him but did replace it... His bike was also up for a major service at the time and they pretty much suggested they would change when it was in for the service.. he usually had it serviced elsewhere...
The other crack I found was in the panel between the seats.. Kawi replaced that under warranty, after a couple of calls....

I do hope you naughty boys have not been wheelstanding....
Kwaka tell me that is what is causing all the cracks and loose bolts on mine....
And here I was thinking it was weight saving, shoddy work and vibration...
Just because you CAN ride, doesn't mean you SHOULD
