gpz250 battery tender

hi, I'm trying to fit a battery tender thing to my gpz250 and as I haven't been able to get a manual yet I can't work out how to get at the battery. Do I need to take the tank off? I can see the battery under the seat but its a bit hard to get at the terminals and there is a box (for the tool kit?) on top of the battery that gets in the way.
Help!

it doesnt get much easier than that

ta, without the manual I wasn't sure how hard to pull at the box.
