Hi all,
A friend and I are planning on heading down to the GP this year, and neither of us have ever been to PI before, and are a bit excited so starting to look at it now
What is camping at the track like? I understand that there is two camping areas, highside and trackside, which is better? We are just a bit worried it might be a bit feral there?
Or are there any caravan parks within walking (read: stumbling) distance?
Cheers!

highside is slightly less feral than trackside but it's kind of much of muchness really
just stick close to the KSRC camp and you'll be right ... it was my first time last year and in spite of the best efforts of some I managed to survive and didn't pick up very many incurable diseases

camping is awesome.
i reckon its the only way to do it (unless you can get one of those VIP packages with the chopper ride in and out every morning)
Trackside isnt too bad. there was some shenanigans but i reckon highside folk were doing the same thing.

I'm not 100% sure where I'll be staying yet, but there is a strong possibility it will be at the track. There are plenty of routes to get down there and back, depending on how many days you want to take and how much you want to be harassed by the cops. To be honest, if you want to have a harrassment free ride there and back it's better to do the scenic route for the Supers...there are way too many cops around the GP.
...but having said that it's a bloody fantastic trip to do, you'll have a great time, and you'll get hooked and keep going back every year

We will definitely be taking the "less supervised" route down there, over a couple of days
Shenanigans hey... wouldn't be a proper trip away without some

i've stayed in the trackside campground everytime i've been, WSBK or GP - its the only place to stay IMHO.
BTW i've only missed 1 GP since it returned to the island in 97, did 3 wsbk trips prior to that and 2 since.......
