Suspension for fat people

Post by Aahzap! »

Hey people

I was talking to a mate of mine who rides a Harley (or a Massey Ferguson if you ask me) he had a good point about suspension.

My bike being a Japanese bike would be designed for some one Japanese perhaps 60 - 70 kg. I on the other hand am 110kgs, I'm not fat just big boned! :P

Is there a place that specializes in this or at least does it - that is modify suspension for heavier riders?

i live in Brisbane

cheers

Standard suspension should be able to be adjusted to suit you...

Try our new sponsor... viewtopic.php?f=8&t=18823

Good luck 8)

The absolute best person to speak to in Brisbane is Steve at Suspension Improvements.
I doubt your bike would be too soft, Kawasaki's tend to be on the hard side (but I don't know about 9's ) :)

Proven Products in Albury/Wodonga manafacture IKON Suspension which is a play on words (word/letters??) for KONI. KONI went out of the motorcycle shock absorber business about the year 2000 and Proven Products bought all of the machinery from them. I have always used KONIs in the past (because they were rebuildable, but I nevr kept a bike long enough or the bike never survived long enough to actually need a rebuild) with complete success. The guy there has built me a custom single shock with heavy everything ( I weigh150KG!!! :)) for my BMW R80ST and a custom set of front fork springs, etc for the princely sum of $730-750, I can't remember exactly, but heaps cheaper than anyone else. He exports custom shocks and springs all over the world.

My mechanic Carl advised me to try and set the standard shocks up properly on my ZRX1200R before spending anything on special stuff. He reckons the standard stuff is ok if set up properly.

The BMW stuff should be here soon :)
