Paddock stands
Are all paddocks stands the same? Need to get myself one for the bike, Don't wanna pay $160 for a lump of metal so I turned my attention to ebay.

I notice that the cheap ones all work off the swingarm instead of spools.
So are they all pretty safe to use?

You need to talk to Pete from Kaneg..
The guy at the track with the camper.
He does em as well as pick up spools, warmers and other goodies.. and he will look after you..

Re: Paddock stands
Some bikes don't have bolt holes in the swingarm, so you have to use the other type of stand. If your bike can have spools fitted, you can use either.
Front stands also come in two types, fork bottom lifters and head stock lifters. The head stock lifter is more expensive, but allows you to remove the forks. I have the fork bottom lifter, and wish I had have got the head lifter.
EDIT* I got my stands from Kaneg too.

Re: Paddock stands
I used the ones that lift by your swingarm and found that if I left the bike sitting on there it would slowly slide down so that the rear wheel was actually touching the ground and the bike was just balancing there....not good. That was on an 02 R1. I got some spools and now have no problems.

Re: Paddock stands
I have a front and a rear stand from Kaneg, which have been in use for a year and a half at least and they work fine.

Re: Paddock stands
No, that's from the experience of buying cheap stands that sucked balls and then having the glory of using a well engineered, well constructed one that happened to cost more money. Everyone has their own opinion on products such as these, I dislike the Kaneg product, plenty of people love them, nobody is right or wrong when giving opinions.MiG wrote:You are a business owners best friend. Re: Paddock stands
I agree ... sometimes. Where paddock stands are concerned, though, I'm not convinced. I've got a set of sharp racing stands and a set of Kaneg ones, and I guarantee the Kaneg ones are better and were significantly cheaper than the sharp ones, particularly the front head-lift stand.triway wrote:You get what you pay for................
