Screen installation (gotta be an easy way surely)

So i'm trying to stick another screen on the 9, took the old one off no drama, pulled the rubber grommmets off the old sreen all good, trying to get em on the new screen however is proving to be ludicrously difficult, so short of me using a rattail file and filing the fark out of all the holes, is there an easier way to get these little bastard things inside their holes?

NOTE: Tried soaking rubber things in boiling water to shrink em a little, tried screwing a screw into em and tried pushing em thorugh, tried the other way with the screw and pulling em through, thus far no cigar, so is the rattail my next option?

Harden The Fuck Up Mick, there's only 6 of 'em. They're a bit of a bastard but I've always managed to get them through just using my fingers, coming from the bottom of the screen, squeezing about 2/3rds of the top rubber piece through the screen then twisting to get the last bit to pop through (Kinda like the first time Bubba .. oh, never mind ). Sometimes a bladed screwdriver on the top of the screen will help, but be careful not to scratch the screen.

I've heard of people using soapy water to make them a bit easier to pop in. Finally, heating them up actually makes them expand (not contract) but probably makes them more pliable.

I'd avoid using the rattail file at all costs, even if you've got to take them to S&W's place with your tail between your legs and ask him to do 'em for you.

Got the bazstard!!! I was going about it all arse about trying to push the bottom of these things through rather than the top between the squeeze and the flat balded driver new screen installed

Been there before as it looks like it is the most logical way to insert them, mick you are not alone but it is suprising you still needed the flattey

Rob, it's an older C model, so the grommets are likely mushroomed a little and maybe a touch perished and hard. The newer they are, the easier they are to do. I lashed out and bought some new ones for the rebuild ofthe Rex. It save frustration!!!

I gotta do this soon, so you push the end with the hole (that faces out) through from the inside not the bottom through towards the inside?

Had the same dilema last week and struggled away for half hour or so then said "Fuck it!" went to the local bike shop bought 4 new grommets for $3 each and problem fixed. When new they just fit straight in, no forcing required.

Having never done this before I didn't realise that they turn "mushroom" after tightening. I argued with the guy in the shop that what he was giving me wouldn't fit

Well screen is in now, just not sure I like it to be honest, looks the shit but it's massive compared to the stockie...
