linky
Is what I looked at when attempting to do mine... though I still got stuck as soon as I had everything off... I have no idea what I am doing when it comes to wiring...
DUNIT and Gos ended up doing mine for me

Re: Wiring integrated tail lights
Cheers mel, actually just found that, i just realise the unit itself is earthed, so just gotta chuck some power to them!
Just a quicky if anyone knows, one the stock 04 indicators, there is a Green wire running to the back of the terminal and a yellow soldered to the side... Is the Green the power ? or the soldered Yellow ?
Thanks

Re: Wiring integrated tail lights
Normally one is striped, which is the earth from memory and the green is power on most jap stuff I have seen. I just rewired four indicators onto the Rex, and the green was powewr on them. Don't worry, if you get it wrong, they just won't work!Saki wrote:Cheers mel, actually just found that, i just realise the unit itself is earthed, so just gotta chuck some power to them!

Re: Wiring integrated tail lights
Ok, have sussed it out,
I have a question about these things over all, should they go brighter when the front and rear brake are pressed ? on the Stock light they go on when u press fornt or rear brake, but on this aftermarket unit, they dont go on with either front or rear brake.....
Thanks

Re: Wiring integrated tail lights

Re: Wiring integrated tail lights
I've got a Rated R one on mine mate and they work just like a normal light ie Tail light goes to brake light when either brake is on. When the blinker is on it just changes one side to Orange. They look cool
Sounds like you might have a problem somewhere.

Re: Wiring integrated tail lights
Yes, i would have assumed this unit would have worked the same as a stock one.. I think this one could be faulty !!!
I Spoke to steve and he gave me a few pointers but i have tested things he has pointed out and its still not working.
When i spoke to him he said he never had any problems with these units so i might be the first one!
You guys got any ideas what i might do ? I put the stock light in and it works fine, which you would assume, but new unit, doesnt come on with brakes!

Re: Wiring integrated tail lights
When I first put mine in and tried it the blinkeres were all screwed up ie wouldn't flash. I turned the ignition off and then back on and hey presto they worked fine and haven't missed a beat since (well not that I know of).
I think if your standard one is working fine then it must be the unit itself.

Steve's a pretty decent bloke to deal with I reckon he'll look after you. It's a pisser though. I don't know how you found yours but i tried to do mine without taking too much apart and the bloody screws that hold it in were a real bastard to get to.Saki wrote:Yes i have unplugged and replugged several times etc etc and still no good!

Re: Wiring integrated tail lights
Yeah i rang Steve earlier and he was giving me some pointers and said just try all them before sending out another one as its a bit of a hassle to pay for extra postage etc etc, But he says he has another one for me!
Yeah i have just unbolted the top fairings on the ducktail so they will spread apart, The 2 side screws are really annoying as they are hard to undo with your fingers and the bottom screw was a bit the same.
Bit of a bastard really i was looking forward to new tailpeice...
Hey Glen, did you buy the relay also to slow the timing ??? for $40 or so, it goes near the battery i assume. Replaces that relay thats held on by that foamy rubbery thingo ?!??!

Re: Wiring integrated tail lights
No mate I didn't do anything other than the unit itself. The blinkers flash fine though. They look like the timing is about the same as standard I think.Saki wrote:Yeah i rang Steve earlier and he was giving me some pointers and said just try all them before sending out another one as its a bit of a hassle to pay for extra postage etc etc, But he says he has another one for me!

Re: Wiring integrated tail lights
I read on a US forum about someone who had a similar problem ... he also found the int. tail light to be faulty but the supplier was not willing to replace or refund. RatedR is obviously a better supplier.

Re: Wiring integrated tail lights
Well i hope so! I opened the box today and saw a nice fat MADE IN TAIWAN stickers....
Not saying anything made in lower income paying countries made bad products, but I am not surprised that the quality is not to match that of a a factory part!
So looks like just have to try again!
