Someone I know is ordering from More Power, and I'd really love to get one of these:

They only list from '96 on but I wonder what the difference is, would it be rear mount? Mount where it bolts to the flange on the header? Anyone with a 1996 on ZXR750 (ZX7R) can tell me if they've played with the exhaust? Or is there anywhere I can call? I don't mind making a couple of phone calls, with the price it is hard to pass up if it will fit...

I would say it will go real close, my bike is like this:

And here's the manual for fitting the '96 on can:
https://www.yoshimura-rd.com/images/pro ... X729SO.pdf
The strap is a separate part so if it needs to go forwards or backwards that's no biggie, my only concern is the bolt pattern where it bolts to the header pipe I guess. The copper o ring gasket is the same part number between my bike and the ones this Yoshi is listed to fit.
There must be a reason they only list it for '96 on, but the price could be good enough for me to try to make it fit somehow?

Well it turns out that for anyone who's interested all I had to do to make it fit was take a file to the bottom hole in the flange at the back of the header pipe for about 30 seconds and slot it out a poofteenth of an inch. Bolts up bewdiful now and looks great. Exchange rates are being kind, and I got a good deal on freight, but if you wanted one I'm guessing it would still be cheaper than buying local even with the regular freight charge.Bogan wrote:There must be a reason they only list it for '96 on, but the price could be good enough for me to try to make it fit somehow?

Cool, I was just thinking of this the other week for when I put together the 89', thanks for the heads up Bogan.Bogan wrote: Well it turns out that for anyone who's interested all I had to do to make it fit was take a file to the bottom hole in the flange at the back of the header pipe for about 30 seconds and slot it out a poofteenth of an inch. Not sure about H but it fits nice on the J. Have a look at some online fiche websites and measure up the holes in the flange would be my suggestion.Jonno wrote:Cool, I was just thinking of this the other week for when I put together the 89', thanks for the heads up Bogan.
