"A messy game of League"??????!!!????
Well done on the gold tickets - you should have a good night. (yes I'm jealous).
Without getting into a slanging match with league devotee's (SoR is the only league games I watch and thats only because of the betting I do) union is a more physical game and requires more thought and skill.
Wikipedia has a great run down of Union and the positional aspects of the game along with some of the plays.
I used to play hooker (many years ago) in union. Had never heard of League until we moved to Australia - first game of rugby for me here was quite a shock
Enjoy the game

Easiest way to put it, Union is a flowing game. League is a stop start game. Union is a power and control game. Tactical and planned.
Both are good, but i personally prefer union over league. May also be because i played union. In the inside/outside center and the second row!
Look at the game as a whole, its not like league where you know the bloke is going to get up and play the ball after he is tackled! Union is about controlling play and moving it where you want to go. Setting up plays and then attempting to complete them!
Those tickets you have will be grand! Enjoy the game!

My tickets turned out to be pretty fucking good in the end!!! Literally the first row in the Members, right on the sideline.
I got to chat to Jim Williams the assistant coach, who I havn't seen for over 25 years!!! (we went to school and played footy together till we were 14.)
