Zx9-R C2 HID headlight setup
Anyone know much about the above? Current headlight is inadequate, had a gutful, figured I might go down this road as a christmas present for the bike.

Re: Zx9-R C2 HID headlight setup
If you like to blind people then i recommend 10000k but if your a nice persone
I would recommend 6000k Ive got them currently on my ninja 250 and they are bright enough even for the old road at night!
Depending where you buy the kit sometimes they are made slightly different than what your used to seeing to put on your bike, i had to modify the rubbers on mine because the cables that plug into the bike were the wrong way around? wierd
And mick i payed $179 for X2 6000K lights, its really worth it... only problem is i had to take literally HALF my bike apart to get to my lights, but in the end its worth it because cagers can now all of a sudden see you!!! omg!!!
Goodluck mick!! if ya ned anymore help shout out!
merry xmas mate n happy new year!

Re: Zx9-R C2 HID headlight setup
I'd go with the 4300K colour myself. Had a set on the cage and they were just awesome. Installation is piss easy too.
FYI 4300K - 5000K is the colour closest to the light you see at midday and 6000K is the same but with a slight blue tinge. The higher up the K you go, the more colourful it becomes and the less brighter it actually is.

ZXR750 -> ZX7R. It's an addiction, I tell you.

There is a bloke here in Canberra that can get the kits. For those with the single headlight, find another sucker to share the cost with.

So "any other sucker" out there with a single headlight wanting to share the cost?? As an aside Whickie, does the kit include 2 ballasts as kinda useless to split costs otherwise..Whickle wrote:There is a bloke here in Canberra that can get the kits. Re: Zx9-R C2 HID headlight setup
So how are the kits for "spill-over" of light into directions not anticipated? i have heard that you have always got a risk of it going wrong when you run a HID adapter on a Halogen setup.
Re: Zx9-R C2 HID headlight setup
Note that the C2 has a single, dual filament globe and many of the HID kits are single filament. You would need a bi-xenon kit for a C2. They are very bright - a mate has HID low and high beams on his 916 and it's like looking at an arc weld being done. Reflective street signs light up light mad. Just adjust them properly as they can really dazzle oncoming traffic. One thing to consider with respect to "brighter is better" is that it's harder to judge the approach speed of a small, intense light than a large, less intensive light source. The ZX9R has a big reflector so it's better to judge the speed of it coming down the road - the aforementioned 916 is pretty hard to pick.

Re: Zx9-R C2 HID headlight setup
I had a feeling this wasn't going to be simply buy plug and play
Sometime next year off to a bloke in Beaumaris who bought a kit from fleabay, will sus it out as to how well I can put the ballast under the rear seat and that sort of shit before I part with hard earned.

Re: Zx9-R C2 HID headlight setup
As long as you get the bi-xenon kit (which does high and low beam with the one globe) and get one with the smallest ballast you can find you should be right. There's a fair bit of room around the headlight assembly which should take a slim ballast pretty easily. I think you might even get one in between the instrument housing and the headlight. The latest ones aren't much larger than a credit card in length and width and about 6mm thick.
