Of all the things you wouldn't run into or turn in front of I think a copper would top the list.
Poor rider has a broken pelvis, ouch, that won't mend quickly.

a young local P-plater did *exactly* this today, and ran smack-bang into a local po-po car - which was on a job, and had its lights flashing and sirens blasting !!!Naked Twin wrote:.....Of all the things you wouldn't run into or turn in front of I think a copper would top the list....
I hope old mate on the bike in that photo was not too badly hurt.

Re: Can happen to anyone
Thanks for the concern guys, but it wasn't me.
For info, the car driver went straight through the stop sign. And typical of the media, they got it wrong. No broken pelvis, just scratches, scrapes and bruises. Oh, and stitches in the back of each heel as they hit first when he landed and they bust open.

Re: Can happen to anyone
All depends. Everyone wears Rossi motorcycle boots and some type of glove. Lower leg injuries represent the largest percentage of injury type in a motorcycle crash.philbo wrote:what protection you guys wear???
We have multiple sets of full leathers for the colder weather - but some guys will wear them all year.
For the warmer weather we have what kind of look like horse riding jodhpurs. I'm not sure what they are made out of now, but up until recently it was wool. They have kevlar inserts in the thigh, hip, backside and knee area. Much like Draggins.
Some guys, myself included, wear shirts in the summer. Some people can't understand why we wear shirts, but when you consider that between us (as a section) we cover more than 3,000,000 km a year, and the crash and injury rate is very, very low (and even lower for upper body injury), it becomes a risk management issue.
